I have written about GeenStijl several times. They are an interesting bunch. There’s just no American media equivalent.
Imagine a journalist interviewing McCain: “mr McCain, you’ve come out of cancer treatment only to block the repeal of Obamacare — people are saying it’s kind of a dick move. What say you?”
Now, imagine McCain had to respond in a serious matter or risk losing face. That is the position GeenStijl occupies in the Netherlands. They interview politicians in a very direct manner, and politicians begrudgingly have come to accept GeenStijl’s position of power.
I conclude that GeenStijl is firmly in the Alt-Lite camp. They are (more and more) willing to address leftist insanity, immigration and problems with Islam. They are not willing to go further (no addressing the JQ, no outright dismissal of Islam, no outright dismissal of emancipation).
The main problem with GeenStijl and the Dutch right in general remains that they are knee-deep into liberalism. Yes, the same liberalism American ‘libtards’ are into, only more European. Points include: emphasis on personal freedom, separation between church and state, emphasis on the constitution. Yes, they are in fact a bunch of libertarians and yes, they believe the French enlightenment is the best thing since sliced bread. Alas, all that simply isn’t sustainable. Libertarianism is increasingly irrelevant and the enlightenment is a lie.
But hey, no enemies to the right. GeenStijl guys, if you’re reading this, DM me for a guest-post on your wondrous pink site. If you like me in English you’ll love me in Dutch.
